Abstrakt: Presents a study which compared the bit shift performance of sputtered cobalt-chromium (CoCr) and sputtered CoCr/nickel-iron (NiFe) perpendicular magnetic recording media when manganese-zinc ferrite ring heads in contact with the media are used for reading and writing. Magnetic properties of measured media; Normalized density at which the bit shift with ring heads reaches 20 percent; Bit shift on CoCr/NiFe dual-layer media with a ring head as a function of density and detection scheme.
