Abstrakt: A large number of elderly reside in what has come to be known as board and care facilities, many of which are operated by non-medical personnel who lack sufficient knowledge of the common medications used by the elderly. In addition, few educational opportunities exist for such providers to increase and expand their knowledge regarding important gerontological issues. Community based educational programs can help increase the knowledge base of board and care operators on critical topics such as medications and their common side effects. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
