Abstrakt: In Mytilus edulis cAMP-concentration in the ABRM increases slightly during phasic and tonic contraction. Whereas during 5-Ht-induced relaxation of the tonic contracted muscle the cAMP-concentration already has increased fourfold before relaxation is visible. The accumulation of cAMP depends on the presence of 5-Ht and on the concentration of Ca-ions in the cytosol. In the intact muscle as well as in the homogenate accumulation of cAMP is inhibited by Ca-concentrations higher than 10 M. The relaxing effect of 5-Ht is imitated by dibutyryl-cAMP and theophylline. The cyclic nucleotide does not effect the Ca-flux of the sarcoplasmatic reticulum. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
