Abstrakt: The authors reflect on the decrement in the number, quantity and quality of ecosystems, and its impact on public health. The note the expansion of health risks from stressed ecological systems beyond the emerging zoonoses. They also cite the potential of various problems including the cost of food, price of energy and livelihood to enhance violent conflict. Moreover, the authors indicate the growth of aquaculture production, as well as the supply of ample food to avert global famine.
