The synthesis of a new monomer holding a carboxylate function and a thiirane ring, is described in this study. Its homopolymerization through thiirane ring opening, using as initiator, tetramethylammonium (di)thiobenzoate in DMF and affording polysulfides with pendent carboxylate groups is investigated. The copolymers with methyl thiirane are identified by 13C NMR spectroscopy. The corresponding polyacids can be easily obtained through saponification. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
