The article focuses on various news related to industrial relations. An institute of industrial relations was established at the University of Utah during the autumn quarter, 1952. The Institute was set up as a result of many requests from business and labor leaders and faculty members working in the field of personnel and industrial relations. The rapid industrial growth of Utah during and since World War II accented the need for an organization to facilitate closer coordination between the University and business and labor organizations. Insufficient thought and effort have been given, to the education of workers in the fields of economics and international affairs. Few chances for this kind of study are available for the average American worker, and even existing programs are not as widely known as they should be, both the Fulbright Program and the Ruskin scholarships provide opportunities for foreign study and research for trade unionists and students of labor relations. Under the Fulbright program in Great Britain a number of specific grants are set aside for graduate study in industrial and labor relations and adult education. |
