Abstrakt: The article discusses the dynamics and historical trends of teacher education in Nigeria. It outlines the foundation of teacher education in the country, which started from two missionary endeavors in the first half of the 15th century and between 1842 and 1892 and was affected by regionalization in 1946. It explores aspects of teacher education after Nigeria achieved its independence and its future challenges in areas including professionalization, quality assurance, and globalization.
