Abstrakt: |
The article presents an analysis of the origins of the international abolitionist movement in Western culture, focusing on the values advocated by its pioneers. Particular focus is given to the concept of humanitarian intervention, which according to the author is a source of the current notion of human rights. An overview of the role of British abolitionist movement in the awareness of the issue in the 18th century is included, as well as a brief historical overview of slavery from Classical Greece to the abolition of slavery in the Americas in the 19th century. |
