Abstrakt: The article focuses on a study which examined the roles of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and nuclear factor (NF)-κB in tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα)-induced expression of vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 (VCAM-1) in rheumatoid arthritis synovial fibroblasts (RASF). The study included patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who underwent knee or hip surgery. It concluded that TNFα-induced VCAM-1 expression is mediated by the activation of p42/p44 MAPK, p38 MAPK, JNK, and NF-κB pathways.
