Abstrakt: This essay looks at innovative explorations and imaginative variations on the theme of spirit possession in the works of Jewish fiction writers. It offers an overview of the dybbuk possession phenomenon and analyzes the motif of dybbuk and spirit possession in literary works such as "A Weave of Women," by E. M. Broner and "Running Fiercely Toward a High Thin Sound," by Judith Katz. It identifies the issues covered by the works, including arranged marriage, sexual difference and domestic violence.
