A slightly modified version of Penrose's diagrammatic notation for spinors and twistors is provided. The new notational device is initially utilized to represent diagrammatically some of the structures that arise from a null description of the processes of mass scattering of Dirac fields in real Minkowski space. A set of simple rules is given whereby the scattering processes may be entirely described in terms of certain colored graphs. Each such graph appears to be associated with a manifestly finite integral which is taken over a compact space of appropriate null zigzags. It is shown that the colored-vertex configurations of the graphs specify completely the structure of the formulae involved in a twistorial transcription of the scattering integrals. The modified diagrammatic notation is then used for representing these twistor expressions in a pictorial way. Subsequently the procedures that give rise to a one-to-one correspondence between the scattering graphs and twistor diagrams carrying auxiliary vertices are completed. An explicit projective prescription for integrating the auxiliary-vertex structures is also given. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
