The article discusses the various approaches in understanding information and visual literacy. John Debes, the person who coined the concept of visual literacy, characterized the concept as a group of vision-competencies developed by individuals from seeing and integrating other sensory experiences. It highlights the opportunity for art information professionals to educate users about visual literacy in the current information age. |
