The article deals with the successful reorganization of United Technologies Corporation's (UTC) Sikorsky unit. As of May 2009, it was reported that Sikorsky is experiencing increased sales and profits, improved labor relations, and resolved quality and oversight problems. The company has decided not to customize each rotorcraft on the production line for non-U.S. military customers. According to Sikorsky head Jeffrey Pino, there are no plans to mimic the move of Boeing to outsource design and production responsibilities for its 787 jet to suppliers. |
