Abstrakt: The article reviews a study by M. T. Teh et al. published in a 2008 issue of the "Journal of Oral Pathology and Medicine," which focuses on the genomic instability detected in oral submucous fibrosis (OSF). The researchers reported the presence of genomic instability in the form of loss of heterozygosity (LOH) in OSF via a high-resolution single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) mapping technique. A total of 14 chromosomes were identified by the researchers containing 23 hot-spot LOH foci, with chromosome 13 being the largest.
