The article discusses the use of enzymatic instrument cleaning products in healthcare facilities. Such products are used as presoaks when manually cleaning endoscopes and other delicate instruments. There are several types of enzymes in such products, including proteases and lipases. Using enzymatic cleaners to remove soil from medical instruments helps reduce bioburden and break down the proteins that adhere to surfaces. |
