Durable press finishing of cotton and cotton/polyester blend fabrics conventional pad/dry/cure and foam finishing techniques was compared. Durable press ratings and selected physical properties of the finished fabrics were compared after three home launderings. At equivalent dry add-ons, the durable press ratings of the foam finished cotton fabrics were significantly higher than the ratings of the fabrics finished by the conventional process. A similar comparison of the 50/50 cotton/polyester blend yielded similar results. Optimum performance for both fabrics was obtained at a wet pickup level of about 30%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
