The article discusses the role of mold powders in the stability of the continuous casting process of steel. The authors study the melting of mold powders in-situ using high-temperature X-ray diffraction. They describe the mechanisms of rim formation and growth by characterizing the slag rims obtained from the thin slab caster mold using extended microscopic techniques. |
