In Pentagram Design's latest book, Profile, sixth generation Texan D. J. Stout is described in an essay by Robert Draper as "A Texas Daredevil." Throughout his career D. J. has tried to raise the bar on the standard book format. Over and over again he has tried to break from the classical book design model, not just to break the rules, but to create meticulously cared for objects of beauty and vitality that communicate more effectively to the reader.
