Abstrakt: The article presents an exploratory study which aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a behavior change intervention to reduce child exposure to indoor air pollution in South Africa. Researchers employed a purposive sampling strategy to identify research participants. Researchers found that the three household behaviors found to be protective of child respiratory health include the opening of two sources of ventilation for extended periods of time while a fire is burning, moving the child 1.5 meters away from fires, improve stove maintenance and burning within 1.5 meters of working ventilation. It is accounted that the behaviors can be enhanced by a number of mechanisms and can be implemented at low cost compared to various technical interventions.
