The article presents a longitudinal assessment of diurnal variations in depression. It has been explained that diurnal variations in symptom intensity have long been recognized as a characteristic feature of depression. Furthermore, it also has always had a prominent place in clinical descriptions of the illness. The authors concluded that the research strategy adopted in the present investigation has revealed certain aspects of diurnal variations in depression that were not heretofore known. This investigation, particularly relating diurnal patterns in depression to subtypes of the illness such as the bipolar-unipolar classification seem warranted. |
