The article focuses on excavations at Nea Nikomedeia in northern Greece which suggest the existence of a community of 8,000 years ago. Its remains also suggest that agriculture and animal husbandry came to Europe earlier than has been supposed. Such discovery made it necessary to reconsider the accepted view that the agricultural revolution fo the Neolithic period was relatively late in reaching Europe from its area of origin in the Middle East. |
