The article discusses the measurement of radiative energy loss from free-burning electrode vapor arcs with a short gap in air. The spectral energy distribution of the arcs varied with the passage of time and angle of observation. As time passes, energy density in arcs increased in longer wavelengths above 2500 Å. The portion of the input electric power that were occupied by the radiated energies ranging from 2500 to 9000 Å also varies with time. |
