The article presents information on the growing popularity of pinot noir wine in New Zealand. Pinot noir makers in the country clock up a lot more air miles than those who make red wine from the Bordeaux varieties. In the past 20 years, several inspiring wines have helped sustain those winemakers who were trying to build a better pinot noir. The first was the 1982 St Helena Canterbury Pinot Noir. Advances in its quality today are individually less spectacular than the beacons of the past two decades. |
