The article focuses on the study conducted by researchers W. T. Willis, K. J. Ganley and R. M. Herman on fuel oxidation during human walking. A study by Arizona State University suggests that the amount of energy required may not be as important as the source of energy in preferred walking speed (PWS) of adult humans. Willis and colleagues propose that PWS is selected not to minimize energy expenditure but to minimize carbohydrate use. |
