The article summarizes the taxonomic recommendations for British birds made by the Taxonomic Subcommittee of the British Ornithologists' Union (BOU) Records Committee. The recommendations include the phylogeographical analyses of mitochondrial DNA for the Canada goose, the treatment of greater scaup as monotypic in the Status of Birds in Britain and Ireland and the taxonomic classification of the common scooter. The recommendations also listed the subspecies of the Melanitta fusca or the velvet scooter. The BOU report also included the result of the molecular analysis of the little shearwater. |
