A recent study conducted by Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in Iran investigated the impact of omega-3 fatty acids supplementation on body composition in hemodialysis patients. The study involved 120 end-stage renal disease patients who were randomly assigned to receive either omega-3 fatty acids or a placebo for two months. The results showed no significant difference in body mass index, fat mass, muscle mass, and visceral fat between the two groups, except for a potential effect on reducing visceral fat. The researchers concluded that further large-scale and long-term clinical trials are needed to confirm these findings. [Extracted from the article] |
