Abstrakt: Researchers at the Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia conducted a study to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of saliva-based testing for measuring Vibrio cholerae-specific serum antibodies in naturally infected individuals. The study included 63 patients with cholera and found that saliva-based tests have high diagnostic accuracy, making them advantageous, cheaper, and quicker for early diagnosis of severe cholera outcomes. The research was supported by the Bacterial Vaccines Network (BACTIVAC) and has been peer-reviewed, offering valuable insights into improving cholera surveillance and diagnosis.
