A recent study conducted at Rostock University Medical Centre explored the association between personality traits, nicotine dependence, and polypharmacy in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). The research found that patients with severe smoking dependence exhibited higher neuroticism scores, while patients with polypharmacy had higher neuroticism scores and lower extraversion scores. The study suggests that understanding these personality characteristics can help tailor treatment and counseling for patients with MS to address the risks of polypharmacy and smoking.
