The article discusses the threat of suburban development on the Maratus yanchep, a newly discovered species of peacock spider found in a small area of coastal dunes near Yanchep, north of Perth. The spider has not been listed as a threatened species, leaving it unprotected from development. The article highlights the challenges of conserving invertebrates, as well as the need for more data and funding for their protection.
