A recent study conducted by the National Institute of Public Health in Slovenia examined the association between heatwaves and mortality among older adults from 1999 to 2020. The research found that heatwaves were associated with an increase in deaths due to all causes, particularly among those aged 75 and older. The study also revealed that the impact of heatwaves varied between urban and rural areas, with different years showing higher mortality rates in different locations. The findings of this study can help inform public health measures to protect older adults during future heatwaves in Slovenia. [Extracted from the article] |
