Abstrakt: A recent study conducted in Paris, France, aimed to determine the prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) in adult patients hospitalized at the largest French psychiatric hospital. The study found that the overall HCV screening rate was 55.4% and increased over the four-year period from 37.1% in 2019 to 69.4% in 2022. The prevalence of HCV over this period was 2.8%, which is ten times higher than the prevalence in the general population. The researchers concluded that efforts should be made to test all patients in psychiatric hospitals and provide treatment with direct-acting antivirals to those suffering from hepatitis C.
