Abstrakt: This article examines a technology platform developed by Badische Anilin und Soda-Fabrik AG for the aftertreatment of polyolefin fibers, such as polypropylene and polyethylene, that is also proving its worth in terms of fastness and flexibility, as of May 2005. The technology process comprises a process that uses unmodified fibers in a standard textile process without pretreatment. It therefore does not require a special pretreatment process such as a plasma pretreatment. The new process is a time-saving procedure that generally requires no capital outlay. The variety of formulations allows the technical profile to be adjusted to suit the material in terms of fastness properties, handle and shade depth. So it is possible to obtain a colored finish and a stiffening coating on polyolefin textiles, depending on how the system parameters have been set.
