This article discusses the outcome of acute kidney injury (AKI) related to hypertensive complications of pregnancy, such as pre-eclampsia, eclampsia, and HELLP syndrome. The study included 30 patients with AKI and followed their renal parameters for up to 16 weeks after the acute event. The results showed that AKI progression to chronic kidney disease (CKD) was associated with certain factors, including serum creatinine values at diagnosis, the number of renal replacement therapy cycles, and suboptimal antenatal care. The study emphasizes the importance of adequate antenatal care and early institution of renal replacement therapy for a better prognosis. [Extracted from the article] |
