Abstrakt: | A recent report from the University of Brighton discusses the importance of understanding healing and non-healing pathways in patients with wounds. The study specifically focuses on the interactions between wound dressing biomaterials and cells involved in the healing process. The researchers analyzed the effects of two different types of wound dressings on the healing process in six cases of acute surgical wounds. They found that the composition of the wound dressing played a role in the healing process, with one dressing retaining cells important for healing while the other absorbed these cells, resulting in a slower or deteriorating healing process. The researchers suggest that analyzing wound dressings for biomarkers expressed by cells relevant to wound healing could be a useful tool in determining a patient's prognosis.
