Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers at the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador explores the effects of different hypothermic temperatures on neurocognitive preservation in patients undergoing aortic arch surgery. The study evaluates the impact of deep, low-moderate, and high-moderate hypothermia on structured verbal memory and overall cognitive health. The findings suggest that moderate hypothermia (20.1-28.0 °C) may provide comparable neuroprotection with fewer complications compared to traditional deep hypothermia. However, the selection of hypothermic protocols should be tailored to individual surgical risks and patient profiles. The study emphasizes the need for ongoing updates to clinical guidelines and further research to refine temperature management recommendations in aortic arch surgeries. [Extracted from the article]
