A recent study conducted by researchers at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, explored the impact of white matter hyperintensities (WMH) on stroke prognosis in patients with coexisting intracranial artery stenosis (ICAS). The study found that stroke patients with severe WMH and ICAS experienced significantly decreased flow in the intracranial arteries, which may contribute to poor clinical outcomes. The findings suggest that understanding the relationship between WMH and flow reduction could inform future recanalization therapies for this population. The study was supported by various funding sources and was published in the Journal of Central Nervous System Disease. [Extracted from the article] |
