Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers from Northwest University in Shaanxi, China, explored the effects of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) on retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cell behaviors. The study found that HGF increased the viability, proliferation, and migration of RPE cells through the MET/AKT signaling pathway. However, these effects were suppressed when a MET inhibitor called SU11274 was used. The researchers concluded that HGF-induced MET/AKT signaling plays a vital role in the survival of RPE cells. This study provides valuable insights into the potential therapeutic applications of HGF in the field of ophthalmology. [Extracted from the article]
