A recent study conducted by the UCL computer science department found that large language models (LLMs) can make irrational decisions, similar to humans, but for different reasons. The study presented cognitive psychology challenges to seven LLMs and revealed widespread irrational responses and variations in their ability to provide correct answers. Another breakthrough involves a new process that uses pyrolysis to break down polystyrene into parts that can be reformed into new pieces, potentially increasing polystyrene recycling levels. Additionally, a study supported by the British Heart Foundation found that ethnic minority patients with heart failure have a significantly higher risk of death compared to white patients.
