Abstrakt: This article discusses three studies conducted by the Arctic Studies Center and collaborating researchers in the Gulf of Alaska region. The studies explore how ancestral Sugpiat and Tlingit communities responded to changes in the marine ecosystem over the past 7,400 years. The research integrates cultural, biological, and isotopic data to understand the interconnections between climate cycles, ocean temperatures, ecosystem structure, and human utilization of marine resources. The studies highlight the importance of collaborative relationships with Indigenous communities and the integration of traditional ecological knowledge with scientific disciplines.
