The article discusses the emergence of the SARS-CoV-2 variant JN.1 and its impact on older adults. The COVID-19 pandemic, caused by SARS-CoV-2, has resulted in millions of cases and deaths worldwide. The virus has undergone continuous evolution, leading to the emergence of variants of concern, including the Omicron variant. The JN.1 variant has become the predominant global strain and has shown resistance to antibodies. Vaccines and antiviral treatments remain effective against certain variants, but the effectiveness of the immune response diminishes over time, especially in older individuals. Booster doses and updated vaccines are recommended to enhance protection, particularly in older age groups. [Extracted from the article] |
