Researchers from Zhejiang Normal University in China have developed a new spherical porous carbon (SPC) that can be used as an efficient sustained-release carrier for nitroimidazole drugs. The SPC overcomes the limitations of conventional porous carbon (PC) carriers, such as irregular shapes and low drug loading capacity. The researchers evaluated the drug loading and release capacity of the SPC and found that it outperformed previous reports, with a maximum drug loading of 300 mg/g and a release time of 24 hours. The SPC also exhibited a large surface area and low cytotoxicity. This research suggests that the SPC has great potential as a carrier for nitroimidazole drugs. [Extracted from the article] |
