A new study conducted at Intermountain Medical Center compared the effectiveness of the HeartMate 3 left ventricular assist device (LVAD) to older generation devices in patients with advanced heart failure. The study found that the HeartMate 3 resulted in similar cardiac reverse remodeling as older devices, suggesting that the fully magnetically levitated device technology could be an effective platform for further research on cardiac reverse remodeling. The study included 405 chronic heart failure patients who underwent mechanical circulatory support with different LVADs. The findings indicate that the HeartMate 3 LVAD could be a valuable option for patients with advanced heart failure. [Extracted from the article] |
