A study conducted in Madrid, Spain, explored the implementation of shared decision-making (SDM) during breast cancer reconstruction consultations and its impact on patient satisfaction and the decision-making process. The study involved 102 female patients undergoing breast reconstruction and utilized a streamlined SDM model. The results indicated strong agreement in presenting various options and explaining their advantages and disadvantages, although patients were less confident about their participation in decision-making. Overall, integrating SDM into breast reconstruction consultations empowered patients and enhanced satisfaction, but there are areas for improvement within the SDM strategy. Further investigation is warranted to explore the potential benefits of adopting an SDM model. [Extracted from the article] |
