Abstrakt: This article discusses the concept of value-based healthcare (VBHC) and its application to psoriasis, a chronic skin disease that affects a significant portion of the Western population. VBHC emphasizes the measurement of patient-relevant outcomes and costs to achieve those outcomes. The article suggests using the patient benefit index (PBI) as an outcome measure and implementing time-driven activity-based costing (TDABC) to measure costs. It also recommends moving towards bundled payments for healthcare providers and delivering patient care through integrated practice units (IPUs). The article highlights the need for further research to address specific questions related to outcome sets, risk adjustment, and fair profit in bundled payments for psoriasis.
