Abstrakt: Applying the own conception-technical solution of mixed microwave heating (partially direct and partially indirect) allowed the manufacture with high energy efficiency and under ecological conditions of a cellular glass from residual flat glass using NaOH as a poreforming agent and borax as a fluxing agent. The high heating rate (18.2-19.7 °C·min-1), much higher than that used in similar conventional processes, did not affect the microstructural peculiarities of the specimens. The optimal product obtained by using 6 wt. % borax and 4 wt. % NaOH diluted in water with a concentration of 1 g·mL-1 mixed with 90 wt. % residual glass led to achieving the following features: density of 0.32 g·cm-3, porosity of 84.8 %, heat conductivity of 0.06 W·m-1·K-1, compressive strength of 3 MPa, and pore size between 41-100 µm.
