A new report from researchers at Dow University of Health Sciences in Karachi, Pakistan, presents data on acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients undergoing CT angiography (CTA) and CT perfusion (CTP) for acute ischemic stroke (AIS). The study aimed to assess the incidence of AKI and the need for pre-imaging serum creatinine level assessments. The results suggest that CTA/CTP is not associated with a statistically significant increase in the risk of AKI in patients with stroke. However, further well-designed prospective studies are needed to explore potential risk factors in specific patient populations. [Extracted from the article] |
