Nowadays, the use of mobile devices has substantially changed the way in which we relate to each other. This has undoubtedly influenced the way in which the teaching–learning processes take place, where one of the tools of maximum development has been the apps. The aim of this study is to analyze the content of 50 Apps for teaching music in primary education. A retrospective descriptive study has been carried out, gathering the most relevant information on the main characteristics of music Apps at different levels: technical, descriptive, pedagogical, and psychological. Among the main results we highlight that most of the Apps do not have solid pedagogical design criteria, belong to the curricular block of listening and interpretation and do not offer game strategies that serve to motivate users. Based on our analysis, we have described a series of criteria that allow teachers and parents to select music learning Apps in both formal and informal contexts. We also conclude that it is important to continue conducting research to guide developers when developing educational digital content for children in the field of music education.
