Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers at Ohio State University focused on the status of Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) infection in children in the United States. The study found that the majority of HCV infections in children are transmitted vertically from infected mothers, and the number of cases may increase due to the rising number of maternal HCV infections. The researchers used a stochastic compartmental model to forecast the incidence of HCV infections in children from 2022 to 2027. The model showed that treatment and early screening in adults could effectively reduce the number of HCV-infected children in the United States. The study suggests that improving early screening and increasing access to treatment for adults may be an effective strategy for reducing HCV infections in children. [Extracted from the article]
