A recent study conducted by researchers at RUDN University in Moscow, Russia, explored the antimicrobial potential of silver nanoparticles synthesized using lemongrass extract against clinical strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The study found that the lemongrass extract contained several compounds, but did not exhibit antimicrobial activity. However, the silver nanoparticles showed dose-dependent antimicrobial activity and significant antibiofilm activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The researchers concluded that lemongrass is a promising candidate for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles with strong anti-pseudomonas activity, but further research is needed to assess their stability and safety.
