Abstrakt: Digital models of the working surface of an abrasive tool are required in modeling tool–workpiece contact in order to predict the microrelief of the machined surface. Approaches to the creation of such models are considered. The basic goal is to construct a digital model of a tool's abrasive surface in the micron range, for use in modeling tool–workpiece contact during abrasive machining. Equations describing the shape and position of individual grains on the tool's working surface are derived. The modeling results are compared with the actual tool profile and surface microgeometry according to laboratory measurements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
